Hi All,
Last May I had a well reviewed tradesman and his team of 2 come and re do my garden. Looks fab and super happy with it however soon after we noticed rocking in our paving. We alerted the company to this and they came and rectified it. Fast forward over winter and a large amount are rocking again! He came out to fix them but they are still rocking. Losing our faith in him now.
Is there anything I can do other than get someone else in to fix the problem as they are clearly unable to.
Many thanks

I'm guessing the paving is slabs ?Do you know if they have been bedded down on a full bed of mortar or did they just use 4/5 blobs under the slabs ?Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Thanks for your reply.
Yes paving slabs.
I was told a full bed, they are Indian sandstone so they're natural and not a smooth surface either side so I'm wondering if this makes a difference. Either way, I have given them 2 attempts to rectify but still not satisfactory.0 -
The slabs not being flat shouldn't affect the contractors ability to bed them properly, and keep them firm and level. How soon after they were relaid did you notice that they were rocking again? We had the same type of slabs laid 8 years ago and they are still solid.0

How is the drainage, does water pool on
the slabs or is it drained away. Might be water getting into the bedding and freezing/expanding over the winter and causing the slabs to separate from the base. Can also be linked to using a weak cement mix as well, it’s cheaper for the contractor to use higher sand mix. I would try and lift a loose tile and take a photo underneath as that might point to the issue.1
