Reporting estate value online

Just a few quick simple questions, I hope, for anyone who's recently been through this, as I'm about to bite the bullet....
1. When reporting the estate value to HMRC online, will I get the opportunity to print out the reponses for our records before submitting it ?
2. And I can see that it says I can continue with a started form before submitting it - does that also allow me to revisit any previously filled in bits ?
3. Is there a link anywhere to a paper copy of the form that I could print off so I can get an idea in advance of what exactly the online form is going to be asking me ?
And finally, when I have submitted the form, do I then have to wait for some form of official confirmation before proceeding to apply for probate (the estate is well under the IHT allowance) ?
While we're at it, I'll probably have similar questions about the online probate application itself......
Thanks in advance, this board is providing some useful information and support ....

We recently did all this when my father-in-law died (his estate was under the IHT allowance) and found it much more straightforward than I had feared!
Once submitted, I was able to save the HMRC 'Inheritance Tax estate report' as a PDF on my laptop (which could then of course be printed as and when necessary).
I had a look through the forms etc here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/inheritance-tax-return-of-estate-information-iht205-2011 (2nd link on the page 'Return of estate information') before I started the online online form. It gives you a pretty good idea of what you need to know, although there are a couple of differences in the online form from what I remember.
Literally a couple of minutes after I had saved the 'Inheritance Tax estate report' I had saved another PDF which was the 'IHT Probate form details' with the IHT Identifier and Estate figures for applying for probate (sorry, I can't remember if this second form was emailed or just 'popped up' once I submitted the estate report - it was all a bit of a blur at the time!!) We then did the online probate application as soon as we had the IHT Identifier.
We submitted the estate report on 17th February and probate was granted on 18th March.
Hope that helps.1 -
Just as sofa-bean says. First time for on-line application for me, also slightly apprehensive but no problems whatsoever. We dug out previous paper applications & when I commenced the on-line process there were some slight differences as I worked through it. As sofa-bean has said, but nothing major & a quick look at the link to open the paper version will give you a basic idea of what you'll be asked. Don't panic, you're not on a 'time out' type of form.
Can definitely be saved & printed - I have it stored on my PC & printed a hard copy. When you initially try to start the HMRC process you will reach a screen where you'll be asked to 'register', so do that, then that registration is also used when you move on to complete the probate application, as is a reference number you'll be given when you've completed the HMRC form.
Just over a week after I'd posted the original Will, probate was granted.
Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.1
