O/S Daily Tuesday 20 April 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Dry start to the day, hoping the sun will make an appearance, it was a glorious day yesterday - hoping today will be the same.
DH and myself drinking first cuppas of the day - DS1 getting ready for work, DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was scampi, chips and beans for the menfolk, I had fishcakes and salad. Tonight will be bangers, mash, yorkshires, veg and gravy - will use up any LO's from the fridge for this meal.
Yesterday the job we had in the diary was successful and we got some answers so that was worth sorting.
We have another chore to hopefully mark off the list today if we resolve that issue. We'll see.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning everyone
It's a nice dry morning here with the promise of sunshine later. I saw every hour through the night so I feel a bit like a well wrung dishcloth this morning. I am planning several nana naps through the day though to catch up.
The nurse came yesterday and changed the dressings on my legs. She told me to ring the doctor and get antibiotics as they were not looking very good. My lovely GP rang me back once I got through the Covid answer machine message and he has put me on a double dose of penicillin for 10 days to try and stop me going into hospital. I feel very worried about getting sepsis again but I am doing my best to be on the lookout for symptoms so if I do get it I can get to the hospital in plenty of time. Anyway, enough about my manky legs 😉.
Steve got us fish and chips for lunch yesterday so I wasn't hungry at dinner time. We ended up having beans on toast fairly late evening and they were lovely. Phoebe wants to make a cake today and I am going to make a big chicken and leek pie.
I am still making cards at the moment and giving the knitting a rest. We have lots of Spring birthdays in our family so it's nice to make some floral cards. There have been some lovely dies come out and I bought a few new ones to try with my birthday money. I just have to wait now for delivery as I have received some but some have not been dispatched yet. I also have some nice card and papers to play with so that will keep me busy for a while.
I hope you all have a good day today. Sending out hugs and cwtches to lots of you who need one. Take care you lovely lot xx17 -
Morning All
After a fairly warm day yesterday it's drizzle this morning and a fair bit cooler. All the bedding from the visitors was dried yesterday and most of it put back on the beds, I ran out of energy for the last two duvet covers! I even did some ironing although not the bedding.
Work was incredibly busy yesterday and the day was over before I knew it, the little one and I went for a wander to check the drains and leaves - pleased to say they are all still there!
Hope you manage to get your jobs done nmlc.
Look after your legs dumpling, sounds painful.
Pleased to hear Steve is home, hope he makes a quick recovery.
It's haircut day for me today, I really do look like a burst couch now so I'm looking forward to it although it's not until 4.30 so will have to be laughed at for another day at work.
Right, I'm off to the shower, have a good day. Take care. XX

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Another glorious start here but according to forecast the sun isn't going to shine all day and will cloud over by lunchtime. Yesterday we had wall to wall sunshine all day long and a pleasant 18 deg. I took advantage and sat outside reading all afternoon. The neighbours hereabouts were all at work so it was lovely and peaceful.
I want to catch the bus into town this morning to get some new solar lights. The current ones need new batteries but, because they got left outdoors all winter, the screws have rusted up and I can't move them. They are cheap enough to buy so it's not worth the hassle struggling with them. Life's too short to struggle with rusty screws!!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies and those looking after a poorly loved one. DUMPLING you take care with those legs, SNOOZER I hope STEVE progresses well and, as always, my thoughts are with GERS and her DM. Take care one and all x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"16 -
Morning folks.Dumpling - I hope those tablets do the trick for you.Camelot - happy haircut day! You'll feel so blooming good.TA - sitting in the sun sounds lovely. A little oasis of peace in our chaotic lives.Snoozer - great news about Steve being discharged. 🎉Yesterday I went out briefly, just to collect an order from Marks and drop off more food waste and glass jars at the street dumpsters. I didn't go to the tip so my car boot is still full of bin bags, I may go this morning as there's more food waste to go. I also have to collect my computer gadget, hopefully it's the correct one this time.DM was brighter yesterday though ate hardly anything. I listened to the end of a Stuart MacBride book which I've really enjoyed despite the gory bits.Hugs to our poorlies and those looking after them. Happy Tuesday to all.14

Good morning, thanks for starting NMLC.Dumpling, hope your anti b's do the trick. I love getting new card dies, I haven't had any for a while, I was going to get a "hello" die, I'd forgotten, that, I might look for one. Do you keep yours on magnetic sheets, I bought some last year and they are great.Camelot, I laughed at you looking "like a burst couch", sorry! I'm sure you enjoyed your walk looking down the drains, it's something different isn't it!We met up with Dd and Dgs in the park yesterday, fed the numerous birds and he had a great time on the play equipment, then went with them tp pick up dgd from school. I didn't get to the shops, but I'll go today. We are having our second jabs today, we go to a surgery a short drive away, so not too bad.Hope everyone has a good day, thinking of Gers and her mum, Snoozer's Steve and anyone else who is poorly.Take care folks.14

Morning all very foggy here but we are close to the Thames I can hear the boat horns I shall miss that.
Today the estate agent is calling as we had 4 full price offers and 1 5k over asking price so he was giving them all till 6pm yesterday for best offer and copies of their paperwork so we will be discussing that with him this morning .
I am off to Lakeside to do some holiday clothes shopping with DD1 not sure how i feel about it I haven't been to an indoor centre for about 18 months but she has lost loads of weight and needs a new wardrobe unfortunately she has a funeral to attend this morning one of her colleagues baby daughters life is very cruel.
Dog needs walking and then my usual cleaning hopefully things will be sorted today and we can stay home this weekend to sort some cupboards out here .

Morning all!Sunny so far but the weather says it'll be raining by four. Better get on with mowing the lawn this morning then..I'll put the grass to one side to cover the potatoes after it rains. I think I'll sow some flowers this year, it's a first for me, usually I buy pots of them, chuck them in, if they live, they live etc....Today is find something fun to do with cooking bacon, so it's either going to be mac and cheese and bacon or mushroom and bacon risotto. Or something else if I can find a good idea. OH is working normal hours this week for a training course so I might stop off at lidl on the way back, we have no butter or parmesan, the latter I need for risotto if I choose that. We have no some other stuff too but we can live without it. I'm trying to be proper frugal this month because I intend to splash out the next.Dumpling, hope the antis start working soon. snoozer, same for steve. Camelot, 'burst couch'...:::snort!!!:: I was listening to a talk by a guy the week before last when someone saidsomething to him bout lockdown hair. He told them he didn't need a hairdresser, he needed a thatcher. Made me laugh. TA, I was also looking at solar lights, gert big strings of them for the fence...Happy shopping! Gers, sorry to hear she's not eating too well, it's very frustrating when you feel you must keep exhorting them to eat. To be honest, i wish I hadn't badgered my father as much. But maybe you're not and I'm just projecting. I enjoyed McBrides halfhead book, the ideas in there were super scary in some ways...Anyway, waffling done, off for more tea vicar! Hey all reading along, hope you're OK or alive..Give us a feeble wave! And enjoy the beautiful day if you can or if you have one!Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi16

Sci-fi books have not pushed my button, I seem to find them hard to understand. 😀 Thanks for bringing it to my attention, I'll listen to the sample before deciding, it's always good to find new books.13

Morning all.
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
Sunny here, shopping today and dog walks.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.14 -
Hi everyone,
Gers, I love a good gory book. Not horror stories but usually American crime novels. I also like non-gory crime but hate the way Amazon have taken to calling a lot of them cosy crime novels, is there any such thing? Maybe I'm being nitpicky, I know what they mean, Miss Marple type with the corpse carefully out of sight.
Steve is feeling fine, I'm trying to stop him doing too much - it's as if he has to prove that he's fighting fit and tries to do more than he would when he's not ill.
I had a great time with my friend yesterday morning, we set the world to rights before I came home.
Today is Lidl day and also M&S for some strawberries and raspberries.
Dumpling, I hope the penicillin works quickly, enjoy the card-making. Best wishes to all the poorly ones and their carers.13
