Double glazing deposit paid but no fitting date after 4 months

Hi,
My question is basically what it says in the title.
I did my research and close a reputable company for replacement windows and a new porch and patio doors.  We paid a deposit of £3000 in December.  I've feel like I've had to contact them in other to get things moving.  They didn't sent the surveyor or architect in  until I called to ask why things were taking so long.
The above have now both done their part of the job approx 1 month ago and still no fitting date.
I emailed expressing my concern about how long this is all taking and was told they'd get back to me yesterday and still haven't heard from them.
I have been patient as I didn't really want the windows fitted in cold weather anyway and have also given them the benefit of the doubt in case they having supply issues due to COVID.
How long should I reasonably be expected to wait before taking this further and how exactly do I take it further?
Is there anyone out there in the industry who could advise me please?
Or other people who have had windows fitted during the covid crisis?
Thank you

what did they say I initially when you asked about timescale indications? I am having work done this year (hopefully) and the trades I am dealing with have been upfront about backlogs, delays and timelines...landscaping (all outdoors so not affected by indoor restrictions) was confirmed in February and first dates they had were in August, building/joinery work hopefully be able to fit me in in the summer!
If they are a reputable company with lots of demand I wouldn't be too surprised if they give you a fitting date that is months away....is that ok with you?....is it the date you want them to provide or do you have an expectation that the windows will be fitted imminently?

My local glazing company have given me an appointment one month from now just to come out and measure for a quote, such is the demand for business at the moment.  I'm in no rush and they're very good, I've used them before.  I've heard similar tales elsewhere.

You could ask for your deposit back and go elsewhere and see what they say, but if they agreed, you'd be back to square one with another firm.

Do reputable companies ask for a deposit. I don’t remember paying a deposit for my replacement windows from a local company and I definitely didn’t when having a new kitchen and some landscaping done all from local businesses
