Sony won't honour warranty as I haven't got receipt

Options
My tv is still within its warranty and has broke, but Sony have said they aren't touching it without proof of purchase. I think this is wrong and I believe I'm within my rights still to have it repaired or changed if it cant be repaired. I should add that the issue is a well known issue to Sony also. Any advice would be greatly received. Thank you

    How did you buy it
    When did you buy it
    Where did you buy it

Sometimes the supplier can provide proof of purcase
    Or your credit/debit card
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Your consumer rights are against the retailer you bought it from, so probably not Sony.

Warranty conditions (such as proof of purchase) are completely separate to consumer rights.

Did you buy it direct from Sony or from a retailer/supplier?

If a retailer, then they are the ones who have to sort this out and McKneff is right, they should have some proof of purchase, most retailers these days have electronic records, no matter how you pay. I always ask retailers to send an email - it's very unusual when they don't.

Anyway, under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 you are entitled to a repair, refund or replacement in respect of faulty goods.

There's some good info from Citizens Advice in the following link -

    https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/consumer/somethings-gone-wrong-with-a-purchase/claim-using-a-warranty-or-guarantee/

Don't let them get away with trying to pull the wool over your eyes, it's outrageous!

AS above  take your case up with the vendor under Consumer Rights .
Sony Warranty subject to whatever terms they want .
Who did you buy from and when ?

But they're not asking you for a receipt, they're asking for proof of purchase. Without this, there is no way to prove when the warranty commenced, which is from the date of purchase, and whether it is still valid. Perfectly reasonable.
So you can supply your bank statement or credit card statement, to show the transaction date.
If you paid cash (why?) and have lost the receipt, you're going to get nowhere.
This applies whether you are claiming under your statutory or contractual rights.
