Uninsured crash

Anyone can show at your house, but it's you, who decide to open the door and let someone in.
I suggest you investigate why policy was cancelled. It should have been checked straight away and some steps taken to fix it or re-instate it.
Wait for court papers and don't let strangers into the house. If they guy shows up again and threatens you, call the police.

After two months, your chances of getting the insurer to revise their cancellation are nil.

Yes, he can launch a small claim. No solicitors are involved in the process. He lodges his claim, your OH files a defence, the court decides who owes who what. Your OH then has 28 days to pay, else he gets a CCJ.
So your OH found out he was uninsured... then didn't bother finding out why...?0 -

In addition to that, the company the assessment on his car was done by, I cannot find any records for on google/companies house, the phone number shows no results anywhere and the address given is for a residential property somewhere in Essex... it’s all very suspect. But the assessment was apparently done by his solicitors? I’m very confused.I'd be somewhat suspicious of his claim to be using a solicitor, for various reasons(1) The claim is for under £10000, so unless he's claiming personal injury a well, it would be dealt with by the small claims court where legal costs are not recoverable. So anything he pays a solicitor is money that he'll never see again, regardless of the outcome. It's rarely worthwhile paying a solicitor hundreds or thousands of pounds to deal with a claim for a few grand, and a no win no fee type will not be interested in a case like this as there's no mecahism for them to get paid.(2) If he was using a solicitor you'd be getting correspondence from the solicitor, not from him personally. A solicitor would not be telling him to text your partner himself, still less show up on your doorstepSo it's possible that he's has a brief chat with a solicitor who has given him some pointers on how to proceed himself; but I doubt whether there's a solicitor who is dealing with the detail of the case...

If he doesn't launch a court claim, he's just flapping his lips in your direction.1 -
Have you checked whether he was insured himself?
I'd inform him to deal with his own insurer and leave it at that. Whether he does or decides to take you to court then that's up to him, your husband will then be able to make his defence. Odd that the other driver has taken 2 months to look at this, it makes you wonder if he's been driving the car in this period, given that it's supposed to be "unroadworthy".
If he turns up at your door again then don't open the door and inform him that any further contact and you'll inform the police yourself for harassment.0 -
