I would try raising a dispute with PayPal for goods not as described, but PayPal will probably make you pay for the return.

As you bought from China then no point reporting to trading standards. Not UK Consumer Rights.

Personally I would accept the 40% refund and take the financial hit as a lesson learned from buying crap on Facebook!

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Paypal will make you pay for the return.  They do a scheme called 'returns on us' whereby if you register you can get reimbursement up to £15.  The problem with China is that the parcel will never show as delivered and you will end up sending your parcel back (possibly with a reimbursement for postage) and as it won't ever get delivered then you will never win the case.

Hopefully the offered 40% will materialise, but if you read the boards enough you will see your situation isn't extraordinary and most people wait for a promised refund that just never materialises.

Hopefully a happy ending. PayPal have negotiated with the company for almost a complete refund, so I'm really happy (and a little surprised - although I'll wait to see if the refund materialises before I get too happy!).

Huge thanks to everyone for the helpful comments and support. Those Trust Pilot reviews were quite telling - 46 reviews and all of them the lowest rating of one star. Just wish they'd have been there when I purchased, but obviously we were the first lot of people to be victims of this specific company and scam.

Looks like the adverts have been pulled from Facebook, too (despite me reporting it twice on there and both time Facebook "looking into it" and then finding "no evidence" of it being misleading).

So generally good news. If anyone else is reading this - raise a dispute with PayPal! You might get most of your money back.
  • Last post - PayPal refunded nearly all of it, then I sold the little console they sent me on Facebook Market Place (being very open honest about what it was and how I'd come to own it!) for more than the shortfall, so actually ended up a little bit in profit!
