Postage Costs Secret Hike

Be warned that eBay have hiked their 'Packlink' costs this week without warning it seems.

If you set up your sale last week you will be out of pocket on the postage. Ebay have said there is nothing they can do as their agents cant access the system. If you haven't already paid for postage, 'don't', they might be able to give you your money back.

Otherwise, do check your payments to see how much you are out of pocket.

Can you elaborate on what services have changed, I am aware that some couriers have increased their prices this week in line with the RM increases and of course Packlink will increase in line with those rises.
As for getting your money back, who is doing that, how are you expecting that and why would they when packlink prices are only a reflection of the market and are not guaranteed to never change.

You can always see what you are paying before you click to buy, no need to go back and check. As always , as the courier prices tend to be flexible it always pays to check with the couriers direct as very often I find going direct beats packlink anyway.

We all understand that companies have a right to change prices, that goes without saying. I was just pointing out that if you had set your prices (as a seller), say on the Sunday previously and your buyer paid the postage you had set from the eBay options, you would be out of pocket when you clicked on the 'buy postage' link as that would reflect the 'new', higher price.

I'm sure high volume sellers keep a constant eye on postage cost changes and would alter how much a buyer should pay during the auction, but low volume sellers and people who essentially sell the odd item, would be caught out.

As to who is responsible I wasn't commenting. However, it is a simple procedure to change the postage template and let it spawn through to sellers inventory.
