I thought MSE was about saving money and helping people on low incomes?

Not necessarily. For me it’s about how to save money whilst buying the things I want to buy.12

Your post suggest only people of low income want to save money. Money saving should be followed by everyone, many wealthy p[eople are wealthy because they know how to save money and many poor people are poor because they have never learnt to save money.dipsomaniac said:I thought MSE was about saving money and helping people on low incomes?6 -
I understood that MSE was about avoiding unnecessary expenses, and not specific to low incomes. It certainly is not about being miserly and having nothing, but more facilitating the way to enjoy life at best value. Whether that is buying a family hatchback or a sports car, how to get the best deal on that need is being MSE.
Many of the PCP threads, for example, are people that need advice because they had not realised the consequences of, or had not adequately prepared for, the balloon payment so need advice on what to do next. Another common theme on PCP is how to take the PCP, secure the "deposit incentive" and then clear the agreement without incurring charges or interest - that is very MSE.

As for the Lambo post, I think it has a slight whiff to it!4

If you are going to buy a Lambo, buying used and putting on a vanity plate so nobody knows it is not shiny and new could be considered to be a MSE approach. Does not really work as well if buying a model that was stopped around 7 years ago.0

Yeah pretty sure the lambo post isn't genuine so replace lambo with tesla"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson1

MSE is about ensuring you get the best deal on what you want.
You regularly see deals / advice on getting the latest TV, foreign holidays, deals and shopping, etc, etc.
It started as a one-man band, with a stated aim "to cut your bills without cutting back".

The other thing to bear in mind is - its what you want to get out of it.dipsomaniac said:I thought MSE was about saving money and helping people on low incomes?
If someone comes here to get help with living on a low income then they can get that
If someone wants advice on a car problem - buying selling or maintaining or whatever - they can get that too.
If someone wants hints and tops on cruises then thats here also, or wants to know the best new 65 inch TV to get then they can get that too.
