Anyone ever bought curtains from them and had them fitted?

What did you pay?

I have two rooms where I need poles, curtains measured for and fitted.

Due to a disability I can’t do it myself.

Wanted an idea of how much it would cost me as they offer no price information.

Is there a particular reason you want this company?
Many shops offer this service and will come and give you samples of fabric a quote for fitting poles.
Hillarys have a freephone number you could call and ask but I find it very odd that there are no prices on their web site that I could find.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

viral kindness .....kindness is contageous pass it on

The only normal people you know are the ones you don’t know very well

  • Was more just they were a national brand, but I do find it odd they have no pricing information.

I think it might be best to try and find more local services.

My daughter asked them for a quote for blinds a few years ago, the chap that came must have been a double glazing salesman at one time, the price varied and decreased every few minutes then the old I must have a word with my area manger to see if we can make it lower, plus offering a once only discount if she signed up then, needless to say they eventually bought a lot cheaper from a local supplier.

I suppose I could let them come quote, but I don’t like to be pressured into a sale.
  • We have just brought two pairs of curtains from dunelm (one pair an odd length 84") cost £100 now we need new poles but I can sort that out, if not I would find a local handy man.

As far as measuring then measure the width of the window and you need a pair of curtains approx double that,   length is what ever you need usually 54" 72" or 90"

Poles vary in prices depending on how thick etc amazon have a good variety.

How long is a piece of string? You can spend thousands on decent curtains, or you could be MSE about it. Having taken the former option with my first home I can categorically tell you that thousands are not required.

Get the window space measured up and crucially the floor (or lower level) to ceiling dimensions and and spare wall space. Then decide on your preferred track / curtain pole and its size. Lastly think about the colours / styles you want, keep both an open mind and retractable tape measure about your person. Then start looking for second-hand ones online (Gumtree / eBay etc) or through a charity shop - most are in vgc / pristine. My preference would be the chaz, as you can inspect it thoroughly and crucially smell it (you may not want curtains that are smoke or pet-fragranced, for example). Lastly, employ the skills of a handyman to get the pole up; I'm sure a friend would help you hang them for a cup of tea and a slice of cake.

We bought the fabric and hired a local to make the curtains.  The fabrics we liked with a blackout lining and weights were coming in at several thousand.

I think we paid about £650-700.
