  • Grumpy - I know nothing about the insurance side but should say that the £8200 was just me depreciating the car at 18% after one year!

    Aaah - perhaps I mis-read and took the £8.2k as the OP's estimate of value rather than the accounting "book value".  It now seems like the OP had the car for 1 1/2 years and covered something like 25k miles, so that would depreciate at more than the accounting "book value".
