Treadmill on ground suspended floor of a terraced house

Hi there. I seen a lot of discussions about putting the treadmill upstairs, but didn't find any discussion about whether it's safe to have a treadmill on a ground floor.

My house is an old terraced house built around 1930. We did refurbishment recently and put laminated floor downstairs. The floor is suspended timber floor. We want to get a treadmill but concerned about doing any damage to the house. Every time we jump we feel vibrations and noise. I'm scared that if we put treadmill and will be running even not often, there will be cracks and damage to construction. Of course I would be happy to use it daily. Even if I put a thick piece of carpet and a rubber mat, I just don't feel my house is that strong

It's a wood floor, it will flex. I see no reason it would cause damage.

I think the OP is concerned about damage to the joists / underlying structure? If light movement causes the china to rattle then it would suggest a higher vibration may amplify this effect. Which wouldn't be the case if the floors were concrete screed.

There may also be issues with noise being transmitted into the neighbouring properties from the thump, thump of somebody running on the treadmill.

I don't think your house is going to collapse from the weight of a person running and jumping about.
