When I was 27 I was in a very high paying job that I was good at but hated I made a complete career change and took a salary drop of £52k ! (70k to 18k) I had saved like mad to supplement my new salary and now 23 years later have this down as one of the best decisions I ever made.0

A couple of years ago I quit a job paying over the national average, had money in the bank due to saving to buy a home but secured a PT temp job a few days later based on transferrable skills, paying under half of what I was earning. I was so much happier and looked forward to going in each day.
Wouldn't risk quitting now unless there was about 3 years income in the bank, due to having a mortgage. Although looking at the jobs around and being contacted every day by people, I'm confident I would walk into a temp job within a week.
Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0
