I'm wonder if you can help me out. I'm trying to find out where is best for buying musical instruments. One of the things one of my brothers is hoping to get for Christmas is a bass drum with a double pedal and I was wondering if anyone might know where best to purchase one.
I'd be ever so grateful if someone could help me with my query.
Thank you very much

A quick "Google" found these sites:
http://www.drumshop.co.uk/
http://www.drumcentral.co.uk/
But there are many others .....0 -
Thomann.de is usually very competitive and come highly recommended0

I bought a DW double bass pedal last year from ebay and it's an actual music shop which is based in Leeds (Sheerers). I can't remember what the price was but is was way cheaper than the recommended retail price and if you're going for a double bass pedal it's got to be a DW! Hope this helps.0

At what level of playing is he?
is he learning or out gigging?
If he's only learning then the DW (Drum Workshop) pedal is far too expensive for the level he is at.
try to steer clear of the £99 'no name' pedals as they always fall to bits and the bearings never last.
your best bet would be to try and locate a second hand Tama Iron Cobra or 'Junior Cobra', The Iron Cobra is a serious piece of kit and you can get them second hand quite reasonable now.
I've used Tama for over 15 years and played all over Europe & have never had a spot of trouble with the equipment (made for big hairy hooligans like me!)
Hope this helps0 -
I'm not sure what he's doing at the moment but the last time I visited him he was gigging with a band playing mostly popular song although he tends to be into the likes of Smashing Pumpkins and Judas Priest or he use be when he was a teenager.
I'll ask him what he's after ASAP. I have a funny feeling he'll know more or less what he's after but all this info is defiantly more than welcome and only has to help. I'm sure he’ll appreciate it.
Even if we don't go ahead with buying a bass drum for him this info should more than help him look for what he wants. I'll pass on as much of this info as I can.
Thanks very much!0 -
You've all talked about peddles but what about drums. Sorry but I’ve just realised that no one has mentioned anything about these.0

Can definately recommend Drum Central if you're in Scotland, and can get to any of the two big city shops.
Other than that, I'd recommend going to a knowledgable shop and telling them what you've told the board... delivery on a web-ordered bass drum is going to be 'yuge.
Don't bother with your local Sound Control store though, as far as I know, they only sell full kits, and replacement snares
Russia is HERE0 -
Can also recommend Electro Music in Doncaster, Bought all my kit there.

There is a poster on here, usually found on the DFW board, called Toto. She is a professional drummer so maybe she can help.Nothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task. William James0

Does he not allready have a drum kit? If you a buying a bass drum you will probably want it to match the rest of the kit (sale color etc.)I have enough money to last me the rest of my life, unless I buy something0
