PIP phone call after the assessment

Asking on behalf of my father.

He had his telephone assessment for PIP two weeks ago (this is his first time claiming). This week he had a phone call saying they had received his report and they were only calling to verify who he was, asked his date of birth and NI number and then said a decision maker would get back to him via letter over next few weeks. No other questions were asked. Does this mean his claim has been successful if they are verifying who he is? Or is this standard? Surely they know who he is because they called the same number the assessor called on

I have no idea why they would ring just to verify those things, seems rather pointless to me. It doesn't mean his claim was successful.

As he's now had the assessment he can ring DWP to request a copy of the assessment report, once he's received this he can compare the recommendations in the report against the PIP descriptors and it will give him some idea what the decision is likely to be because mostly they go with the report, although it has been known for them to go against it but it's rare.

Once a decision's been made if he's successful then he should receive any backdated money into his bank before the decision letter. (unless he's transferring from DLA and then there's no backdated money)

I've had a phone call from a decision maker once during my PIP review but he's specifically asked me a question regarding my mobitlity, which i answered. Very strange why they rang to ask him to verify who he was.. to be honest if i had a call like that and someone asked me those details i would be very cautous in answering them.
