CMS sending annual review letters for closed case including personal information

I have a case with the CMS which was closed around 3 years ago.
In February of this year I received an annual review letter for this case. The "child" is now 21 years old.
This letter was also sent to the child's mother and included information that I was now in receipt of benefits.
I have made a complaint to the CMS stating that I was unhappy that they are sending letters out for a case which has been closed for a number of years and also that they are divulging my personal situation/information to a third party.
They have responded to my complaint and have ignored the fact that the case is closed and not responded to this. They have stated that they have done nothing wrong as they have not told the third party the exact benefits I am in receipt of.
I am not happy about this and have completed a Subject Access Request this morning as they have also removed the messages from their online system detailing my complaint to them.
I intend in due course to make a complaint to the Information Commissioners Office.
Has anyone experienced anything similar to this?

Between time, have you had (and kept) the letter that says the case was closed?
For them to send a letter out with annual statement suggests their file shows an open case, were there arrears?1 -
