I run Bitdefender Free, but I've only ever done a complete scan once.
If you're worried about how long it takes, do it at night and go to bed.

Bitdefender has taken 3 hrs 21 mins to reach 98% scan - of 121 million files and so far found no viruses !
121 million files? Is that a typo?

I have about 334,000 files on my 500gb SSD for Windows10 and apps etc and about 50,000 files on my 1tb data disk.

You have 315 times as many files as I do.

    Who knows everybody is different.

My win 10 box is 500ssd 4tb hd and 3tb hd.Mint server is much more..

I use Avast free and when I do a scan for my drives totalling 3.5 tb before going to bed I use the boot scan option which is more thorough than scanning in windows and requires downloading more definitions.

It ended up - after 4 hours+ claiming to have scanned 180 million files - so yes it is correct !
The problem with bitdefender free is that you have no control over what files you can scan, its all or nothing

So your answer is either to pay for the full version of BitDefender - if you think you need it - or take the above advice simply to use Microsoft's Windows 10 AV!

  • BitDefender Total Security is "hi-jacking" TLS (HTTPs) connections in such a way HTTPs traffic can be intercepted.

I saw this last week when someone was directed to check their browser for inception certificates, and one of the test websites using a certificate no browser should accept without a security warning was loaded without any warning whatsoever.

Thus I would say, please don't spend any money buying BitDefender. You are far better off with Windows Defender.
