House Viewing Question - Vendor
Comments
-
Our previous house had a garage and two parking bays. We left the car in the garage and the two cars on the drive as there was plenty of on street parking and the footpath to the house was away from the driveway.
The house sold in a couple of days with 5 of the 6 people viewing submitting offers so it really didn't put people off there being cars on the drive.
Again we have a driveway and a couple of parking spaces on the driveway here. Not that we plan to sell this one but if we did I don't think we would move the vehicles again. People can see what they are getting and can see that there is plenty of space on the driveway.0 -
I would never assume I could park on the drive of a house I was viewing, and would be annoyed if anyone viewing my house just pulled on the drive too. There are some very valid reasons on this thread for moving your car though, but for me, that isn't one of them!0

I have never had any viewers park on our drives, on any of the houses we have previously sold. I don't know why, as there has always been plenty of space! But they seem to politely park on the road outside of the property instead, so I wouldn't worry about moving your own cars.0

Well, out of the feedback we received for the viewings we have had, one potential buyer said that they have a car and a van so parking is an issue for them. We are a house situated in a courtyard and everyone has a single parking spot in front of a garage which is why we use the garage.
Our house fronts onto a green which we love but I appreciate not everyone will do. The on-road parking is doable but then it's a short walk to the house (under 2mins) which can put people off. We have no issues with it but I imagine it may be a high priority for some.
Most of the houses in the area are with a similar set-up. I guess my initial canvassing was to assess if it would be worth showing potential buyers that the garage is a very viable option for off-road parking. We do often use a bit of a courtyard by our house for parking but as we can't guarantee it being available, it's not a point worth mentioning.
Thank you all for your comments. My car is in the garage still and will be left there, other car we will move as we have said to the EA that those viewing the house can park there.0 -
Urgh so feedback a yesterday's viewing was 'house is great, loved it, but put off by the parking situation.' I get it, I mean, when we bought this house we were told it was 2 spaces in addition to the garage but when we parked in our "second" space, we had a bit of a conflab with a neighbour about it being shared access. That neighbour has since moved and the new neighbours don't have car and are letting other neighbours use their space for their car and have told us we can park there etc. This obviously, isn't a guarantee so it's not something we are comfortable telling potential buyers about.
We can't change the parking situation really but it is a shame as 2 out of 10 views have had the same feedback. I'm being optimistic that someone will not mind using the garage to park in as we do now.0
