O/S Daily Wednesday 14 April 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Frosty start to the day again this morning, but doesn't look quite so cold.
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 getting ready for work and I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was gammon, egg, chips/salad. Not sure what we'll be eating tonight - as I did plan but that hasn't gone to plan as there were no LO's when I though there would be! Will need to stop off at SM on way home to pick something up to make up tonight's meal.
Yesterday work was busy again all day - and the day flew by - no announcement made so will see what happens today. I have annual leave next week, so once I finish today I'm not back at work for over a week - so I'm hoping I get some info before I finish today.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
Nmlc I can't believe you are still waiting to hear, it's appalling.
I'm walking back to the marina today t to collect the car, Steve might come too, the walk would do him good.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester.Chin up, Titus out.12 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. I can't believe how long your employers are keeping you dangling. Another glorious start with blue sky and sun and at last we are above the minus figure! Plus 2 - almost tropical!
I am off gallivanting today!! My BF and I are off for a wander round Skipton and the market! Just like we did in the good old days pre Covid and all the lockdowns. I'm not sure whether it will be warm enough for a dine 'n wine lunch outdoors but playing it by ear. We may even end up scoffing fish and chips down by Belmont Wharf whilst watching the barges to and fro. Her DH is dropping us off on his way to make a collection further up the Dales but we will get the bus back.
At last the suspense is over with the Masterchef final being broadcast at last tonight, followed by the Sewing Bee, so for once a good night of TV viewing!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all our poorlies, poorly loved ones or just those fed up. Take care one and all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"12 -
Morning all The sun is trying but i don't think its going to be boiling hot but we are set to reach 10 degrees today so getting there slowly today is the Wednesday clean with special attention to the utility room floor i will be scrubbing it again with pink stuff i certainly won't miss it when we go. The cheeky buyers haven't come back to us with a new offer so we have another 4 viewings this weekend . I am going to empty out some of the garage to take to fill the skip at the other house so that can go on saturday.
Right better get a shifty on hugs to all those who need one have a good day stay safe xSlava Ukraini13 -
Morning folks.TA - your day out sounds great, enjoy your freedom.Bella - a skip is a good idea. Once I jokingly said to DM that I'd get a skip and a chute for her stuff, she was horrified, thought I meant it and started to declutter. 😀
Yesterday I emptied four photograph albums which makes a total of 14 so far, not many left. DM got too exhausted to do any more sifting so I'm just going to scan everything. Some empty albums are destined for the bin though a majority can go to a CS. I don't know if people still want them. Or a salad spinner! This morning I'm meeting my friend for an al fresco breakfast, it's a bit nippy so I'll wrap up well. We're keeping each other sane. On the way there's bags to go to the tip, I'll just empty them and reuse them. The contents are storage boxes without lids, lids without boxes, colanders etc so nothing nasty. I gave a lovely neighbour an unused set of four mini springform tins as I know she'll use them. Now my thoughts are turning to those who are looking after poorly family or are under the weather themselves. Happy Masterchef Final day. 🎉🎉13 -
Good morning everyone,
Dull and chilly looking outside, not been out to test it yet though.
Yesterday turned into a busy day, a session on paperwork and shredding (much needed) first thing, a walk to town for a couple of things I don't buy from the SM and then as it became sunny and very warm a good session in the garden.
Wile we were getting our evening meal OH looked out of the window to see a Sparrow Hawk busily eating a Blackbird on our front lawn, I have to keep reminding myself that it is nature, but I love the birds that visit here and feel a little guilty that by feeding them they are at risk of being eaten themselves by the resident SH. At least we did not witness the poor thing being killed.
3 more sleeps until hair cut, I must take a photo for the before and after shots, haven't had my hair so long since I was at school.
Gers I hope that you can enjoy your breakfast out and keep warm, great progress on the de-cluttering.
Bella fingers crossed for a good buyer from your booked viewings.
TA A visit to Skipton how lovely, I hope that you can find a sunny spot to eat lunch.
Hester I hope that the weather is pleasant for your walk for the car and that Steve will join you.
nmlc as others have said I do hope that you get some news soon.
Hugs and spoons all.

Morning all. Been awake for a while but OH has had a reaction to his jab so is in bed instead of in work. I did try to go back to sleep but it wasn't happening so Ill just get myself ready for a nap after. He was telling me yesterday theyve been cleaning out some of the stuff in an office and they found tens of packets of hpotos of office parties from the eighties onwards. He said they were full of photos that if they'd been taken these days, would have been deleted. Out of focus shots and several shots of the same thing spring to mind. He also said he really noticed that ladies then didn't seem to wear foundation so much, so they had shiny faces and apple cheeks.I think another day of procrastination and then castigating myself for it is in order. The fire has to be cleaned out and the glass, the ktichen could do with a tidy, the floor could do with a steam mop in there and I ned to think of something to cook although if the OH is that bad, it'll just be for me. I fancy some focaccia with rosemary and salt. And I have my second jab booked for Friday.Gers, doing a good there! Yes, I knew you meant you felt old lady but frankly, you're not unless you're giving them lavender bags. I don't think biscuits are old lady presents. If they're off relatives I think they're stopgap-couldn't-think-of-what-to-get presents but from anyone else, they're just a bit nom. ... Enjoy your day out TA. Happy belated birthday dumpling, have fun with your new dies! nanny, that's sneaky dirt for you, it hides in a black hole of shadow then throws off it's disguise JUST when you've put away the mop or whatever. Ruby, hope the test does show something. Take care of yourselves today, the weather is meh! But you can be safe and snuggly wherever you are, you just need fleece or fire or both!Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi10

Morning all
Cold and frosty here but bright and sunny, wm is doing its thing and will hang the clothes out for a while.
I have to go to the Dr surgery today to see the nurse for a 'lady test' and if she has time a blood test if she cant do the bloods I have to go back next week so im hoping we can do both, need to jump in the shower after this.
DD is off to work today so I shall take the dogs to the park where I feel safer, and this afternoon I need to do the click and collect order for Friday.
DW needs emptying and floors need a sweep and that will be my day !
TA enjoy our jaunt !! xx
Have good days all xx13 -
Good morning, another sunny day here, lovely to see the sun.Hope you have a great day out TA, it'll be a nice change.Well, our hairdresser texted yesterday morning to say she'd had a cancellation for the afternoon, did we want the appointment. Did we want it, hold us back!! we hot footed it to her place for 2pm and we've had our hair done, what a difference it's made.I didn't get to Dun*lm as planned, but I can go later in the week, we weren't going to turn down the chance of an earlier hair apptWe've got a man coming from the window firm (need a new window in our bedroom) at some point today) he's been before and measured etc, and we've paid for it. It's just to check access inside and out. So I hope they can do it soon, we can't open the window which is highly inconvenient. It's an old window though. They're a local firm and we've used them before, and it's just an ordinary window, nothing fancy. That's it for today, hope everyone has a good day, better get myself organised, I'm late this morning.Take care folks.14

Morning All
Beautiful sunshine today, it was obviously having a day off yesterday and we had a couple of light showers. Washing on the line, the towels can go in once I've had a shower.
Went with DD and little one yesterday to buy a (second hand) bike seat for the little one, just need to get my bike serviced for DD and they will be set for the great outdoors. Reminds me of when DD was little and we would all go for days out on bikes.
Enjoy your day out TA, it'll be lovely for you to meet up with your friend and have a day of near normality.
Belated birthday wishes dumpling.
I have something to take back to Morrisons this morning then will spend an hour at the allotment putting up the pea support, such an exciting day!
Take care. XX13 -
Morning, hugs if you need one.
A bright morning, coloureds dried on the line, whites in the washer now destined for the line too.
We had a quiet day yesterday, nothing mad happened. DB had a walk out into the garden and moaned about the hedge. The lady came for the ironing, it will be back later this week. I saw my neighbour coming home from work, he will do the rest of the hedge at the weekend. I feel bad asking him to do things, he will not let me pay him.
DB ate a good supper last night so I know he is ok, if he is off he does not eat. He will resume normal 'duties' tomorrow. Cleaner is picking up my click and collect order from Aldi this morning. I had to give back word on taking the quilt in, will ring this morning and see if I can go on Friday with it. DB will come with me.
I was very tired again last night, was asleep before DB put his light out.
Chese and onion frittata for supper tonight.9
