Please help, as I'm not a techie!
Every few years I buy a SIM free unlocked smartphone. My last was a Moto G4 (2016). It broke beyond repair or I'd probably still be using it. I was given a used Samsung J5 (2015) but cannnot get on with the bloatware. I want another Motorola. Technology has moved on since I last bought a phone, but I don't need 5G. My budget is up to £120, so I'm looking at ranges E6-E7-E8.
I'm confused by the technicals. I want a phone, a camera, gmail & google calendar, FM radio, YouTube, and a bit of internet browsing. GPS would be good. So would good battery life. I use a desktop PC for internet browsing when I'm at home, as it's more comfortable on the eyes. I notice that the cheapest models (E6 range) have the advantage of removable battery, but not the latest Android software. I guess it's between E6s £70 - E7Plus £90 - G8 Power Lite £100

    I won't pick E6s, based on spec.

    I can't see E7 plus for £90??
E7 plus spec looks better than G8 power lite, provided they are at same price.

Another phone worth have a look with £100 budget is Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 4 + 128GB.
But you probably prefer sticking to Motorola?

  • We do similar, tend to buy new every couple of years, just replaced G6 with G8 available at Argos for £120.

This did mean going from 5.7" screen to 6.5" screen, and the upscale in overall phone size, but definitely good value.

I'm a big fan of the Moto G range. Currently have the g7 but the battery life isn't what it used to be.  I had been looking a few options such as the g10 and g30. I don't need 5G. Bit disappointing that the screens are creeping up in size to 6.5" while the resolution is actually going down.

G9 plus is the closest screen res wise:

    Display: 6.81 Inches, 1080 x 2400 FHD+, 386ppi, HiD, 16 Million Colors, LTPS, HDR10

As above, I'd get a G9 plus over the newer G10, G30 phones, much better equipped.

Just a shame the display size is such a whopper.
