Private sales are less common now that car buying services are a thing.

For lower end, try facebook and gumtree, for everything else then try autotrader.

Autotrader, EBay, Gumtree, facebook and perhaps auction including Copart (auctions obviously come with a bit more risk).  And you just have to keep looking everyday which becomes easier once you have been through them all the first time.

But word of mouth can be handy too.

I wouldn't touch Gumtree with a 40' pole, I had so much hassle with an advert I put on there being hacked that I don't have any faith any of the adverts are legit!
Facebook marketplace is a great resource these days, I've bought and sold cars and bikes via there.
Autortrader is almost exclusively trade now, rarely ant private sellers these days, you can see why when FB marketplace is free.
  • Hi OP

Recent years we've just p/x but more recent years  webuyyougreatcar, you get my drift.

We we last sold privately more than 12 years ago go a lot of rubbish calls, time wasters, it was via ebay - they came and say and paid almost full price as car was always describe 100% FSH, low mile etc.

IMO - Ebay is best as it does generate good interest
