O/S Daily Tuesday 13 April 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light but cold and frosty start to the day.
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS1 getting ready for work. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was chicken in white wine sauce with rice. Tonight we'll be having gammon, egg, chips/salad.
Yesterday work was busy and the day passed quickly - today will be similar. There should be announcements being made shortly - is what we're being led to believe - we'll see,
Keep safe and well x

Good morning, and thanks for starting NMLC.It's another bright day here, frosty though. Yesterday stayed fine, and I went to the shops, just in our little high street. More shops are open I was glad to see, most of the charity shops as well, though a couple didn't re open in the summer last year, and I think another has gone the same way this time.TA , you'll be shorn now, I'm counting the hours now till 9.30 on Thursday morning, when I hope to be transformed - well, if not transformed, looking a bit better. I think it's too late for transformation!Your caravan sounds lovely, I'm sure you and the family will have some good times in itMonna I might borrow your 18 million ways with mince book if that's ok, though i've got half a pound out now and I'll make burgers today. Actually I have a mince book on my shelf, I'll have to consult it. DH seems to have gone off stewed steak as well, which was always popular, especially in the winter, though I still like it.Gers, you seem to be clearing cupboards and shelves at a great rate, it's a nice feeling though when you've done it.Csarina, hope your Db is all right, that must have been a bit of a shock for you, for him as well.Ruby, hope the Dr can do something about your headaches, sounds nasty.I would like to go to Dun*lm today to look at some curtains that i've seen online, for one of the bedrooms, and have a general look round, I like Dun*lm, and rarely leave empty handed. Also i want to pop a card through a friends' door which I made last night, her mother died a few days ago. I normally don't make "sympathy" cards, just buy them, but this is very simple with a few flowers on, not elaborate at all.Hope everyone has a good day today - take care folks.15

Morning all! A bit blummin' nippy today but at least not snowing. Temperature did get up to a reasonable degree yesterday in the afternoon. Made a chuck together of the cabbage, roasties and fried two onions, made a cheesy mistard sauce and threw the wholelot in the oven to use up the leftovers. Was quite nice and there's some left for today...leftovers turning into leftovers...Although if there are any left of that I could always make them into patties and fry in breadcrumbs. What's the longest anyone has ever made leftovers from leftovers for? Shower in a minute, then breakfast or vice versa, change the sheets on the bed, it's getting too warm for the flanelette now. Also OH has his jab today so I'll be taxi'ing around the place from 11. Other than that and poppping over to see OHs mum in the garden depnding on whether he gets a reastion or not, nothing else planned for today..I decided I wasn't going to go anywhere for a while so all the people desperate to go shopping can have the shops to themselves for a bit. To be honest, there's nothing like not going shopping to remind you you don't need to go shopping.csarina, what a shocker...hope he's home safe and sound today, it's got to be a bit disorienting, I mean, who takes 40 quid to hospital with them? Hope they can sort you Ruby, it's no fun when the tablets you're supposed to take make you feel terrible. Gers,I don't think I've ever met anyone who is given an out of the blue present saying, no , no thank you, this present is far too old lady for me.... biscuits ALWAYS get eaten
by men....camelot...are you sure you're not having sneaky hoovering thoughts? Happy haircuts to those of you who have had the done or booked...Stay safe, stay sane!

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Another glorious start with blue sky, sunshine and frost, but I do wish it would get a bit warmer!
Yes SCARLET I am now shorn and feel so much better without the straggly locks. I have decided if there is another lockdown I won't bother trying to do anything with my hair I shall just get a wig.
No plans for today, just general pottering. I have two skirts that need shortening, maybe I will bring them down today. Stupidly I ordered one from the M & S sale, totally ignoring what length it was - it is so long it would sweep the floor as I go along! To add to the mince talk I have had a sudden hankering for chilli so I am going to get some mince out of the freezer and make some for my tea. I once had the mince cookbook, also a potato one making about 1000 things from spuds. I think they have both long gone now!
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, poorly DMs and DHs, Take care one and all x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"12 -
Morning folks. It's only -1 this morning, an improvement on yesterday. 😀
Taff - the tip workers will have happily eaten all the biscuits, I meant that I felt like a proper old lady giving the tin. Made me chuckle at myself.Yesterday I started to tackle the baking / cooking equipment behind the recess curtains. I took all of it out then got massively overwhelmed by the task. There are 11 springform tins, three sieves, two colanders, various receptacles without lids, four measuring jugs and much much more. I culled two black bags full of the obviously 'rubbish' stuff and put the rest back. The vast majority is far too good to just dump. Later on in the evening I found out that some CSs are open so that cheered me up about it all.In the late morning I cooked a small chicken for DM. Stuffed a lemon inside, slathered with oil and scattered thyme. I'm not keen on eating meat off the bone but DM enjoys stripping the bones. There wasn't much breast meat though the legs were plump. There's enough left for at least one main meal and bits for soup.Evening brought me contact with a lovely old friend in Newcastle though he's not old. When he was a young boy I babysat him and became great friends with his parents. This young child was a delight to be with, he really brought out the best in me which no other child had done before or since. His father was a very well known TV personality from TTTV though no airs with him. His mother was also a delight, lots of graces in a lovely way. I'm so pleased that we're back in touch.DM cleared out more photo albums so I was busy scanning too. At least that's relaxing and soothing.Today is visiting the tip again day. ☹️ There may well be a day which doesn't involve clearing out or getting rid of stuff, won't be today.Bella - I hope your house sells soon.TA - 🎉🎉 haircut day.I hope that all those feeling poorly or looking after poorlies have a good day. Happy Tuesday to all.13 -

Have a good day hugs and extra strength for those with worries or who are unwell stay safe and stay warm xSlava Ukraini14 -
Morning All
I'm envious of your haircuts, my appointment isn't for another week! As for shopping, I'm glad our shops are still closed although I could do with some new clothes.
Bright morning but not the sunshine we've become used to, maybe it'll get better later but it isn't anywhere near as cold as it has been in the mornings. No washing today, I'll give the machine a rest.
Hope you get your headaches sorted Ruby.
Happy sorting Gers, glad you've found a charity shop open. Lovely you're back in touch with old friends.
That's a cheeky offer Bella, I'm sure a better one will come along soon.
I had a great time in the park with the little one and DD yesterday, I took flasks of coffee and some biscuits so we had a snack whilst watching the boats on the river.
Allotment this morning then the day's mine to do nothing, I'm missing work!
Take care. XX

Hi everyone,
Csarina, I hope the hospital get DB sorted out. Ruby, I hope you feel better today.
I too am shorn, I got cold feet as she was cutting it into the new style, it's so fine and thin because of my thyroid that I thought that it would look awful. She persuaded me to carry on and I'm quite pleased with the result, now to see if I can do it myself.
We went over to Chris and Crystal's to have tea in their garden in the afternoon. It was lovely when the sun was out, Chris was working from home but took a break for a cuppa. It was lovely to see them but driving over made Steve feel ill because his eye was making him seasick. Coming back was much better thankfully.
We had a bit of a shock last night because the subject of a horrible 24 hours in police custody went to school with Laura.
I've got the dentist this afternoon. He's replacing my last two metal fillings with white ones and cleaning. 75 minutes in the chair, I'm dreading it.15 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
Bright and sunny here but frosty.
Beano met up with a doggy pal that he hasn't seen since last summer, they had great fun playing together.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.13 -

.It was awful - he seemed such a lovely chap. I thought that as soon as the police mentioned that his GF could get life for the assualt he agreed to move away, once he knew he would be safe. Such a tragedy.Good luck at the dentist - you'll feel so much better afterward.

Morning all.
It's lovely to look in the mirror this morning and see a tidy head of hair. Shame about the wrinkled face underneath it, but even the best hairdressers have their limits.
Dentist today. Not quite the same feeling of excitement.
taff, I am very familiar with the concept of leftovers made from the leftovers of leftovers.. Family history has memorialized one of my children poking at his plate and saying despairingly, "What did this used to be?"
Gers, there are worse things in life than being an old lady. I think.
Meals today will depend on what happens at the dentist and how my mouth feels.I believe that friends are quiet angels
