Impossible to change bank details on DVLA

We have changed banks and are in the process of transferring over all the DD's (it's not a brand new account, so can't do this automatically).  I am finding it so difficult to get through to someone who can change the bank details for the direct debit on the Car tax.

I have tried the Webchat 3 times, at different times of the day and each time I've been told that there's no-one available to carry this out. They cannot email me a form, as they don't have the facility.

Have tried to phone them, they are supposed to close at 8pm and even before that time they have also been closed and the recorded message tells you to use the webchat (which is also closed).

Time is running out, as our original bank account is due for closure and other than keep on trying I don't know what else to do.

Thanks in advance.

If the account is closed the direct debit will fail anyway and you will need to set up a new direct debit for your new account  when the next payment is due..

I don't really want the DD to fail to be honest.

Hubby will try and phone them at the weekend to see what we can do - don't know how we can see up a new DD if we can't get through to anybody.

Set up new DD on new account, then cancel old DD on old account. You're already covered for April because of the DD you've paid this month.

It's not a big issue and solved quicker than the time it's taken me to write this.

What bank is the new account with because most banks offer the switching service and the account your moving too doesn't need to be brand new.

It's all sorted now, managed to get someone on Webchat to change it on the 4th attempt.

Only hubby's car insurance left now, but we are not renewing that policy as it's too expensive, have got some quotes and will start a new one.
