Hi there
Is there a way to predict the Credit Limit likely to be offered before applying for a card? I would like to take advantage of the current offers for a 0% card but I am concerned that I might be offered a low limit. Are some providers known to give higher limits than others?
I tried to search for this info but so far I have come up short
Many thanks in advance
ps - my current credit card gives me a limit of £12k

This is purely anecdotal but of all the cards I've had over the years, Barclaycard was the one that came with the highest limit off the bat by a fairly large margin.

Going to depend on situation, I got a poor Barclay Card limit, the best I've had is Nationwide.
Your current credit card, was the 12k the initial limit you were offered or was this slowly increased over time?
I would check out MBNA's cards as a first start, their eligibility calculator offers you an estimate of what sort of limit you can expect from them without doing a hard search.

There won't be one 'best' card that suits everyone - it'll depend on a number of factors. Most card providers don't tell you a limit before you make a full application - so it can be difficult to second guess. Lloyds and MBNA (same group DO give an indication at the soft search stage - so if a limit is your concern I'd start there)1

Nationwide, MBNA, Halifax, Lloyds, Santander.... to name a few, will give you an indication on acceptance and predicted credit limit with just a soft search.

I'd say MBNA and Barclaycard are the ones who tended to offer me the highest limits over the last few years. Over the last 6 months though Barclaycard have been cutting peoples limits some down to £250 from £10000 so I probably wouldn't try them at this moment in time.0

Like others said, Halifax / Lloyds will show you what limit you are likely to get. I personally got exactly what they shoved me on the eligibility checker, with two different cards.
Barclaycard was the first one who offered me 3x higher limit than the other 2 cards I already had with different banks (£1500, £1700 and then Barc. £5000). Those were actually my first cards since I moved to the UK.
The highest offers I'm getting now are from Lloyds and Halifax, maybe also Amex.
If you have one Halifax or Lloyds card, you can apply for a second card, then move a portion of credit limit from the old card to the new one. I've done exactly that. You just need to ring them up. The lady on the phone told me most customers actually don't know they can do that.
I had one Halifax CC with £6300 limit, applied for the second one, got £6700 limit. So £13k in total. First I rang them, they said I need to wait at least 7 days from the account opening if I wanna do that. I called again one week later, the lady said I can get limit over 11k on the new card and the old card would be then reduced to something below 2k (the minimum was £500). I chose 9k on the new card and the old card was reduced to 4k (still the same 13k in total).
