Travel abroad while receiving higher rate mobility DLA

Options
My wife of 76 receives higher rate mobility component of DLA. We wish to visit my step-daughter in France. Also our son in Spain. On separate trips. What are the rules re length of stay out of u.k, I have an idea it's 28 days, but is there a limit to how many trips per year ?

For DLA it's 13 weeks and not 28 days. https://www.independentage.org/get-advice/money/benefits/benefits-abroad

  • Thanks Unforseen & Poppy12345, I did see the 13 weeks re DLA, but also found a note either on age u.k or  a government website, which said this did not apply to the mobility component of DLA, which could not be claimed oversees, hence my original query.

I think that refers to people who live abroad rather than those just going for a maximum of 13 weeks.

So if a person was calming Income ESA and High rate PIP (both)  If I travel abroad I'm allowed to keep PIP for 13 weeks but on ESA after 4 weeks declare I'm travelling more for 4 weeks and my ESA will stop? Would doing this would I need to reclaim ESA on my return.

If you travel for more than 4 weeks your ESA will end, once it ends you can't reclaim it when you return and you will need to claim Universal Credit. You will also need to go through the work capability assessment process again and send it fit notes from your GP because your ESA award will have ended.
