I'm 49 now and trust me I've always been able to sleep 12 hrs at a stretch ;D

this is interesting stuff
people need varying amounts of sleep and sleep best at differing times.
that said if you are worried about it or you feel your sleeping more than usual for no obvious reason..................go to the docs for a check up ,just to be on the safe side.
but if you usually sleep that long anyway..............it doesn't have a negative effect on your health ,it's just your a sleepy head like me

You get used to sleep deprivation after a while, but I have heard that working nights may shorten your life expectancy.
I have had very few 'full nights' sleep since the birth of my son 4 1/2 years ago, because of his health problems, and did a few months working at night from 8pm to 4am. Went to bed for a couple of hours, then slept in the day if the littluns did
Supposedly TOO much sleep is bad too, you should only need about 7 or 8. !2 hours is the amount a young kid needs, I wish someone would tell my son that!Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

I think its important to get enough sleep. I average about 9-10 hours a night but can sleep for 12 or more if I am in that mood.
I watched something on TV that its a fact that to little sleep is bad for your health.0 -
I like to get 8 hours a night during the week, but
at the weekend I have been known to sleep for 12 :-[.

I can get by with 5 hours. I'm finding that I need more sleep as I get older not less as they keep telling us :-/ I am doing a very active job though and working shifts which doesn't help much.0

I need about 10 but with kids awaking and then trying to get back off and then hubby getting up early for work reckon I manage about 7 >:(
Anyone remember Margaret Thatcher saying how little sleep she needed? Think my kids are destined to become a prime minister

Ol Maggie used to survive on 4 hours I believe.......
Sleep so becomes a thing of the past when you have kids doesn't it? I used to be a 9 hours a night girl
now I'm lucky to get 5..its amazing how you get used to so little sleep and get used to seeing the bags under your eyes 8) 0
