Car stolen - do I report to DVLA?

Hi MSE-ers
My car was stolen about a month ago - I just looked out the window one morning and it was gone.
(It wasn't a keyless theft but I will be investing in a decent steering lock)
I reported it to the police as soon as I saw it had gone - they have logged it but nothing more for them to do as no witnesses or CCTV.
The insurance company have paid out (fair play to Admiral - it was quick and easy, the payout was pretty fair and a hire car arrived really quickly too), and I've sent the V5c document and both keys to them.
My question is - do I need to tell the DVLA? I have googled it but I'm still not sure if I need to, or even should. Technically, if the car was recovered then it now belongs to the insurance company and not me.
If just wondered if it would help the police ID it as stolen if they spotted it - I know they do checks using ANPR for tax etc and if it showed as untaxed then they might look at it more closely?
(I know it's probably on false plates or in a chop shop by now, but just in case).
Cheers

Reporting it to the police is the bit that'll flag it to ANPR.
Insurance should sort the DVLA side. You should get a letter from DVLA saying the car is no longer registered to you. If you don't get that in the next month or so, write to them.1 -
Thanks AdrianC, that's really helpful. I've put a reminder to contact the DVLA in early May if I don't hear anything.
Part of me wants to know what has happened to it, then again, some things are better not to know...

The Police were watching the house of some suspected serious criminals so, when they turned up in my now reported stolen car, they moved in.
They found stolen goods and a handgun in my car and more stolen goods and weapons in the house.
After about a month the Police told me to collect the car from a police station. The first thing I saw when I opened the drivers door was a hand gun sticking out of the flexible door pocket. (Ford Cortina Mark IV).
The Police had missed that one.
Who knows what crimes my car was used for in the month it was missing.
A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".2 -
