Will I need planning permisson to instal a picket fence on my drive?

At the moment there is nothing seperating mine and neighbours drives so was thinking of erecting a small 3ft fence on my side. Will I require any formal permission to do this?
Thanks

Why bother. I always find little fences like that between drives end up being an unnecessary nuisance for both sides.

No idea about planning permission but if it’s a new build estate you might want to check any covenants.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

The short answer is probably 'No.'
The longer answer involves analysing why you feel the need to define your territory and whether anyone is threatening it by invasion with car doors, bags of shopping, feet etc. Like many forms of protectionism, the problems such a thing may create through retaliatory action can only be guessed at in advance...but they will come!

I don't understand all the negativity about the erection of a small fence.  I suspect the OP has his/her reasons.  My nephew has just done something similar because people were taking shortcuts across his lawn and walking directly in front of his window.

I am not sure how it would be policed as my house is early 80s but deeds state no fences in the front (also things like no washing to be hung in front gardens, no caravans on driveways and no commercial vehicles parked on driveways overnight)

Needless to say there are several low fences, a few caravans and a few white vans but I did wonder what would happen if a neighbour complained.
