FatFace Data Breach

Just looking for views/thoughts on the FatFave data breach as I’ve recently received an email regarding this saying that the breach was in early Jan 2021 and to keep this quiet? Apparently from a little research this was from a randomware attack in which they paid out 2 million?

There was a link in the email to obtain an Experian account for free so could keep an eye out on my deed it score in case I started to be the victim of fraud.

anyone else had this type of email?

Should I be suing for this breach? Or just take up the offer of a years Experian account?

Any help and advice welcome.

What loss have you suffered by the data breach?
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

As I’m aware of, nothing as yet but two attempts an unauthorised access attempt on my google account in the last month or so.

If you have not already done so, I would change all passwords and enable two-factor authentication everywhere I could.

I would also be very careful with emails supposed to come from them and never use the email to get on the site.

Sounds like the ransomware that hit lots of companies, big & small plus some government systems across the world in Dec & Jan.

If they've paid then their data was possibly not put on the dark Web.

That may not be anything to do with the data breach and could simply be a coincidence.
I have various Google and Yahoo email accounts and often get login  failed attempt warnings.

Oh come on! This isn't going to be a get rich scheme.
I've had a few breaches over the years, both have offered a years subscription to a credit file monitoring service, and that was without me even having to ask.I believe that's more then enough 'compo'.

PS - You should be checking your file anyway as it's free. Ignore the score as it's made up and means nothing. Actually check the file.
