Switching Funds

When you switch isa funds within your chosen platform, are you always out of the market for a period? I see on Fidelity's website that when you choose to switch funds you'll be out of the market for 48hrs. For some reason I never gave a thought to there being a delay due to the sell/buy process.

The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

    Yes.  However, the length of time will vary with platforms depending on whether or not and how they prefund transactions.   Most DIY platforms do not pre-fund.  Although in certain transactions a few do.

    HL, if you want to pay their fees, will let you place a buy order for up to 90% of the value of a sell order, to go through the same day. Otherwise, there seems to be a rule of the universe that for the day you are out of the market the rest of the world hits 'buy' and sends prices up.
