Actual UC will vary with actual wages received. Calculation assumes that the net pay of £350 is the correct figure. The figure UC will use will be the gross pay less NI, income tax and pension contributions. If there are any other deductions these may be added back for UC purposes.
gross pay is 451.85 a week less tax 42 pounds less NI 32.26 less pension 23.95

So net pay is £353.64 which is slightly higher than £350 and means UC will be slightly lower than I previously calculated (by the equivalent of £2.29/week which is £9.17 in a 4 week month and £11.47 in a 5 week month).
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.
  • I am still flabbergasted that we may be better off by over 100 pounds per week. We have struggled the whole pandemic, as not been able to find work as kids at home, plus two have asthma and auto immune disease and quite often have to come home sick so someone has to be home im like a carer lol.

Have you looked at claiming DLA for those children? If they need more care and attention that a child of the same age who doesn't have a health condition then you maybe entitled to DLA for them. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/universal-credit-different-earning-patterns-and-your-payments/universal-credit-different-earning-patterns-and-your-payments-payment-cycles

If successful then you UC would also increase.

  • Thanks so much everyone you have been so helpful. I heard nothing but horror stories changing to UC.

But it seems this could be good for us.

I will wait untill the 23rd April to apply incase we get this 500 pounds TC payment.

It just seemed to good to be true that we was entitled to over a 100 pound extra a week, im still shocked.

On page 3, the OP says they have some deductions from wages for 'home tech through work', but later says just tax, NI and pension.
Wou,ld UC ignore deductions of this type?

i was told just gross pay mattered and net pay
  • sorry me again with another question

if we do UC we have to report to the job centre weekly to an adviser. We have to satisfy them that we are actively looking for at least 25 hours of work a week. How do we do that its very difficult to find a job around the children, plus during school holidays... Plus a couple of mine are constantly in and out of school so I would be having to look after them how do you get on with that? sorry for all the questions.

    Cheers
