I,ve been left with two 1st class return portions from Newcastle to Edinburgh. I cant get them refunded as card is not mine and no longer available, cant sell them on ebay as it,s against railway bylaws. One valid till 17th Dec the other the 23rd. Hate things going to waste, any suggestions?

I think it,s against railway bylaws for anyone other than the company to sell tickets but thanks, I may just have a go.

Send them in for a refund - the fee will be well less than the fare.

    Or even freecycle
  • i work for the railway (selling tickets)..... we can only see that it was paid for by card not whos card so it could go back to yourself minus an admin fee of £10. But it can take about 3 weeks or longer to process

I thought it went back to the card account, which has been shut down, the account I mean.

Well it will either go to the card account, if they have retained its number, even though it has been shut down, and will eventually get back to the owner of that card. He then gives you the money.

Or it will go to a card number you give. If the name on that card is not the same as the original purchaser and they notice then there could be problems.

:A You sure they are unused and not just unclipped? :A
  • card info gets send away with paper work at the end of the day.... so we would not know who it was purchased by at all (they have ways and means of checking if tickets have been used or not)
