Amazon declined return/refund within 1 year

Bought an intel CPU and it stopped working, as within 1 year I called up amazon and used chat as well, declined both times, said I needed to contact intel.
Is this normal?
I contacted Intel and they said back to Amazon, I am stuck in a circle.

Are you looking at a warranty or your consumer rights?
With a warranty, you go to the warranty giver, usually the manufacturer.
With your consumer rights, you are outside of the 6 month from purchase, so therefore the onus is on you to prove any fault is inherent. Consumer rights are between you and Amazon.1 -
I had issues with other tech goods last year and they refunded/replaced no issues, it seems this year they have been more stricter and saying go to the manufacturer which is disappointing"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"
