Washing machine

Options
Hi all, just looking for some advice regarding a washing machine and really strong vibrations and smells.

we have just moved house into a new build. The washing machine was brought over from our old house but we didn’t use the screw pins that came with it. We didn’t use a professional moving company, just a man and his van. The floor that the washing machine is on is a concrete block.

basically whenever the washing machine is on spin the vibrations can be felt in the front room which is about 5-6 meters away from the washing machine. The smell that comes from it is really bad also. I have cleaned out the filter and there was hardly anything in it, that certainly didn’t smell.

we are in a small terrace with two other houses, we are at the end and I asked both of our neighbours if their washing machine causes vibrations when used, one said yes but laughed and one said no. I have checked the level and it’s fine.

I have placed my hand on the rubber seal and manually spun the drum by hand and it does (by a couple of mm’s) slightly move, not sure if this is normal.

to summarise:

Really strong vibrations throughout the house (downstairs) when the machine is on spin (our trays in the oven make a hell of a noise)
Strong smell when washing machine is on spin
Washing machine IS even
Concrete floor
One neighbour (directly next door to us in the middle) says theirs does it, other one on opposite end says it doesn’t
Drum does seem to not=t moved in a complete circle, slight oval shaped by a couple of millimetres.
Machine is a direct drive model (read this can cause issues with some types of floors)

I am worried it may have been damaged internally in the move.

Do I need a new machine or is this just normal for new builds? (Obviously not the smell)

How old is the machine? The fact that you have smell as well could indicate the motor brushes are on the way out and could do with replacing. Fairly straightforward to do if you can get to the motor.

Only 18 months, hence why I think the move has damaged something

Moving it without the transit bolts/brackets/whatever in place can cause damage if it wasn't treated gently enough. I'd take a look inside, after removing the plug, and see if anything looks odd, maybe one side different to the other. It can be a spring come loose, a damper come apart, etc.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.

It could have popped one of the dampers, not sure if the domestic models are the same but when I used to do the commercial LG,s, there’s a damper at the front as well as two at the side/rear, check those, not sure if your direct drive is the same but the commercial ones didn’t use a belt so no motor or belt, all done from a magnet on the drum, one thing you could try is to re calibrate it, not sure how to get into the menu to do this, but google it, I’m sure it’s out there

I'd doubt it's the brushes then.

Just had a look at it today, the drum does seem to spin slightly out on the top right of the drum, although I am sure our floors do conduct vibrations I am sure this is adding to it, making it slight ‘bounce’
