Open new S&S isa to hold HSBC - probably HSBC if I confirm no extra platform risk.

What do you mean by extra platform risk?

Well I was just being paranoid about savings and personal banking with HSBC, then a HSBC s&s ISA with a HSBC GS fund...eggs in a basket

What a roller coaster this is turning out to be. Now I think
    H&L LISA to AJ Bell

    Open I web S&S ISA
Transfer in existing Halifax S&S holdings and cash (can I do this in-spec?)
Transfer in existing Sainburys cash ISA and invest into a HSBC GS fund

HSBC retail banking and HSBC Global Asset Management (UK) Ltd are two different companies sharing the same logo and part of the same group.   no eggs in one basket there.     The VLS funds also invest in HSBC.   So, you are not going to avoid HSBC

at worst to remove transfer delay on stocks i can transfer in existing cash isa, buy investments at current price, sell existing in halifax and wait for that to come over to replace the cash

Is 60 quid per year worth the hassle? If in spec i suppose it doesn't matter how long it takes - not as if you are loosing interest as such
If someone took £60 off you would you be annoyed? If they took £600 off you, what about then? That's the fees for 10 years. It might seem small but it all adds up over time and this is MSE after all
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.
