Open new S&S isa to hold HSBC - probably HSBC if I confirm no extra platform risk.
What do you mean by extra platform risk?

Open I web S&S ISA
Transfer in existing Halifax S&S holdings and cash (can I do this in-spec?)
Transfer in existing Sainburys cash ISA and invest into a HSBC GS fund0 -

at worst to remove transfer delay on stocks i can transfer in existing cash isa, buy investments at current price, sell existing in halifax and wait for that to come over to replace the cash0
