HIVE wireless thermostat display

Hi i wonder if someone can advise please? i have had the hive wireless thermostat for around a year and all been fine but this last week or so i've noticed that the display when you want to activate boost or just read the temperature is very dim. the red and green arrows on the display are bright but nothing else is. you can still read it (just) but was wondering if the unit is faulty or there is a setting i cannot find that has somehow altered.
i have checked the batteries and they have plenty of charge and the thermostat is working fine (apart from the dim display).
many thanks.
UPDATE: changed the batteries and all back to normal. when i tested the batteries in a tester they still showed as good so not too sure why they failed to light the display?

I'm not aware of any setting that would do this, so I suspect it's faulty.Email or message or chat or Faceache Hive - they are usually pretty responsive, I believe.Low batteries should come up with a warning symbol, yes? But still the obvious thing to try first. To start with, make sure each pair of battery contacts are super-clean, and 'spin' the batteries in their positions when you replace them.1

It needs strong batteries.
I hardly ever use the thermostat. The App is much simpler and convenient to use.1 -

How much does Hive cost to set up? Are there ongoing contractual costs? And is it any better than Nest?
Am thinking of investing but I know its a luxury and am wondering whether its benefit is worth the investment. No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.0 -
cost us £179 when we had our boiler serviced over a year ago. it is very simple to use and great to control especially if you are out and want to put te heating or hot water on in the meantime.1

Why the f*** this isn't described in the user manual is beyond understanding!0 -
Low overnight temperature can affect performance.
Coming into the season of 4 am car alarms here.0
