    I think my point is...
It is COVID and the LOCKDOWN WORLDWIDE that has caused the stock market to rise significantly due to a CHANGE IN HUMAN BEHAVIOUR i.e. people being stuck inside with 'investing' advertisements to lure them to investing...
I don't agree that it's down to investing adverts causing people to invest money in the last 12 months. You might have seen an advert, I've not seen a single one. People may have had more money but I doubt that much of that is consumers and most is large banks etc making the most of very cheap government money.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

Vanguard ISAs (and GIAs) can only be used to invest in Vanguard products.

If you invest in individual companies, your worst case scenario is a 100% loss.

I don't think the OP wants to hear that.

Having made a profit in the last year year, the OP appears convinced they they can do it again in the next few months but this time using an even larger sum of money.  They appear to be thinking only of the profit they expect to make and mention only in passing that  'the worst thing that could happen'  would be  a small fall of 20% or so.

They appear to  want to avoid risk but the investment they are proposing in individual shares could easily see a much larger drop than they have in mind.
