Cavity wall insulation thoughts

    Not recommended for bungalows near the sea. Had to have ours removed.

    We had cavity wall insulation for at least 20 years and the only problems has been a couple of the cement plugs inserted after the job have fallen out.  It doesn't take long to refill the holes.
  • We moved into a detached Bungalow 27 years ago, and It could have been installed for longerI was aware it had Urea Formaldehyde CWI(looks like shaving foam)
    And to be honest at the time I wished it hadn't 
    BUT
    We have had no problems at all, no damp nothing, house keeps heat in well.
    Alot if not all of the bad press stems from the myriad of companies who specialise in removing the insulation  along with the legal firms inventing reasons to get compensation, such as cancer scares etc...which have never been proven.
    I believe the mineral wool insulation can cause problems in cavities, but none of the others

    Ours must have been installed properly, zero problems after 30 years or so

    Ok cheers I also see the beads insulation an option but not sure how that fairs to the foam stuff .
