Can my mother claim tax back on the money she pays her carer?
All I can find on HMRC is if you use an agency or you employ someone - mum's carer is self employed and wishes to remain so.

If she's self employed then the carer would deal with her own tax so there would be nothing for your mother to claim back.

poppy12345: Nothing to do with the carer's tax affairs, moreover the OP mother's, and whether or not tax relief is available on such expenditure. I am not aware that there is tax relief in such instances.2
