Hi
Perhaps a look on the websites of CEF https://www.cef.co.uk/catalogue/products/search?q=night storage heaters&sort=price_inclusive_vat.sort_asc or an electrical wholesalers, and pay an Electrical contractor to wire them. Then you could have multiple points wired and spread the heater install across a few months.Forum, Agin 'em or Just Neutral?1 -
These clay/ceramic radiator companies are all about muddying the waters. Using the word 'storage' and emphasising 'efficiency' where in reality their 'storage' means a brief delay in giving out heat, then a brief delay in cooling down when turned off again -- serving absolutely no useful purpose! And as is often made clear here, all electric heaters are 100% efficient.Mystic_CT said:Yes, they are fancy electric radiators. However, the company literature does describe Elkatherm heating as a "modern electric storage heating technology".2 -
Dont get me wrong for ease of installation the fancy electric radiators are hard to beat, the only real issue being the running costs.
It's not an easy straightforward task to fit a new gas boiiler and central heating setup though.
Was your home visit/survey an independent,or one with a vested interest trying to flog their wares, what was their advice?.

They dont need to be fancy and they dont have to cost over £500 each to do the job. You can get perfectly good panel heaters or electric radiators or any other form of on-demand electric heating for thousands of pounds less that do the same job with the same 100% efficiency.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers2 -
I am quite well aware of that fact, thanks all the same.matelodave said:

If the OP chooses to go that route for whatever reason, despite those facts being stated then thats their choice.

Thank you all for your helpful comments and advice. All are appreciated.
Rp1974, the actual visit/survey was a useful exercise for me because I have an idea now of the costs for fancy radiators 😁 There's no way I'm forking out that sort of money for fancy radiators. As Matelodave suggested, I could put that sort of money into an RHI scheme and fare better in the long term.
