Warmauk - Anyone used them?

Anyone got any experience of WarmaUK? I’ve applied for the free central heating, we’ll it’s not quite free as its estimated cost is £2.5k, so subsidised might be better description.

They seem very keen to sign you up, took a substantial deposit to send a surveyor around, a rushed and late surveyor turns up, spends 2 hours and then that’s it! Been two weeks now and still no final quote or install plan after surveyors been, starting to give up with them and ask for my deposit back as paid by credit card. I did put in writing that I’m not signing anything or commit to an install without having a final price.

I’ve had another quote in without any ECO help and about £600 more, not massive difference.

  • They would have also done new rads etc if required but mine worked fine

Looking at their website, my impression is that WarmaUK get you a grant then hire a contractor to do the work.  Presumably they make their money on the difference between what you and your grant pay to them and what they pay to the contractor.  Or am I mistaken?

Warma quoted me almost the same as a local installer going through most energy suppliers who do the eco grant most large ones have to provide a grant and it’s a set fee of £249 to £350 for a boiler install, there’s lots of companies claiming to do the eco scheme and they are not , when warma gave me the quote I just laughed I could get any local plumber to inwtal at the price they quoted, however I don’t think the eco scheme is allowed based on tenants eligebaility anymore it has to be the homeowner otherwise they could provide a very cheap install and the landlord benefits from the value increase you have to be a homeowner now I believe.  Will check and clarify

That’s if you want a boiler only, grants available to tenants if landlord agrees, it’s for full central heating systems for applicants who have never had gas central heating, my property had storage heaters so qualified and tenant claims UC. The boiler upgrade is only for homeowners with boilers over 5 years, my tenants application has been approved, that’s not a problem. There is some saving but not massive.
