Insurance worry?

Hi

just after some consumers advise,

Had a boiler fitted in middle of 2020 and the engineer came through a ceiling and then left a pump leaking for days, long story, damaged caused to two ceilings, door, and floor. I have just discovered they are claiming through another companies’ insurance and I feel extremely uncomfortable with this, never heard of the ltd company the insurance company is working behalf off, I know its not the registered ltd company I used and have a contract with, need I worry?

Presumably they're connected in some way, otherwise why would they be getting involved? Ultimately your claim is against whoever your contract was with, but I don't see why it need concern you what route they use to sort it out.

Thank you, David, I hope they are connected, not sure how though but the lack of interest in repairing my home that they admitted to damaging does make me wonder why they are using another Ltd companies’ insurance, I have stressed that its the company I employed who is making the claim and not me as they keep trying to tell me, thanks again

  • Update... they went through another insurance company, turns out they used a sub-contractor and are claiming through his insurance, I have had a hole in one of our child’s ceiling now for 7 months plus ££££ of other damage caused, they have admitted liability however everyone dragging their heels and I feel very let down immensely by the company that I employed to fit a new boiler, small claims is my next avenue I feel as nothing seems to be happening the company I employed is shying away from their responsibilities even though they took my money fast enough.

You have a number of choices:

    1.  Use your home insurance to pay the claim (your insurer can then recover their outlay from the contractor).  You will have an excess to pay.
    2.  Use the contractor's insurer (or whatever weird arrangement they seem to have in place with another contractor)
    3.  Pursue them (the contractor with whom you have a contract) directly for costs

    That's pretty much your options.
