Good afternoon

Hopefully I've posted this in the right place - I'm re-writing a constitution for a small unincorporated association. We want to remove all the unnecessary words so we can understand it a bit more and make it more engaging - I'm stuck on this bit with the nothin herein it wording

Can someone help me write this is just plain English Thank you

a) All moneys raised by or on behalf of the  [name of group] shall be applied to further the objects of the group and for no other purpose PROVIDED THAT nothing herein contained shall prevent the Payment in good faith of reasonable and proper remuneration to any employee of the Association

Seems perfectly comprehensible. 


Always beware when trying to simplify something that you don't make it ambiguous. Nothing worse than ending up with something that is open to different interpretations

If you replace ‘moneys’ with ‘surplus monies’ do you still need the ‘provided that etc.’ ?

That would change the whole meaning of the paragraph


"All surplus monies raised by or on behalf of the  [name of group] shall be applied to further the objects of the group and for no other purpose"

How about:

All monies raised by, or on behalf of, [name of group] shall be applied to further the objects of [name of group] and for no other purpose, with the exception of payments made in good faith in connection with the reasonable and proper remuneration to any employee of the Association.
