in Phones & TV
Booked a holiday cottage but there is no TV. Also no internet :-) Anybody know if there is a way around this? If I take our small TV , do one of those Digital TV Indoor Antenna things work? Or can I use my phone in connection with something ?

It could probably be argued you don't go on holiday to watch TV. But anyway...There is no such thing as a digital aerial. Indoor aerials can and do work depending on where you are and where they get set up, but otherwise take your phone and use mobile data if you have anything you really need to watch.0

An indoor TV aerial might work, but in my experience the holiday cottages that don't provide a TV don't do so because the owner knows that it is impossible to get a good TV signal at the cottage. So rather than have people complain about the TV reception at the time, they remove the TV and advertise that the cottage is Good for getting away from it all....
With the right phone, and right TV, and a good 3G/4G signal you might be able to stream some TV programs, but I don't know much about what you need for that. Hopefully someone else will be able to advise.
Your best option might be to take a DVD player and any boxed sets you want to watch. We used to regularly rent a holiday property that had no DVD player, so we used to take our own with us. It cost us £10 from a charity shop because it had no remote control! The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.3 -

Ask the owner if there is any signal available. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Our last holiday let had no TV or mobile phone service - lovely. We found other things to do with the kids rather than letting the TV or mobile phone keep them entertained.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0

You could use phone to watch movies or if you have any tablets then that will work as a TV0

SkyGo which is also free data wise if you have Sky Internet.0

Small tv and portable satellite dish (Aldi does these sometimes)?
If in a valley might be a waste of time.0 -
