Will the council charge automatically drop off Right To Buy house at 5 years?

Hi,
Hoping someone can help me.
In December 16 my wife and I bought my mother-in-laws council right-to-buy house. Can someone tell me whether the councils registered charge against the property (covering the Right To Buy discount they gave) will automatically drop off at the 5 year point (this December) or do we have to go through an application process to have it removed? The local authority was Stockport just in case that makes a difference
Many thanks
Andy

If you were to sign up to the Land Registry's free Property Alert Scheme you will automatically get an email alert on the day the charge is removed from the title

Well as much as I appreciate your sarcasmcarefullycautious said:
1. Nothing on that web page answers my question and
2. I bought this house from Stockport Council, not Stockport Homes.
Otherwise it was a really helpful reply, thanks!1
