Car selling dilemma
I have owned my car for nearly 11 years and am about to replace it with a newer model.
I have had a couple of online valuations which place the car at around the £2k to 2.2k mark.
Due to lockdown I have not been using the car much over the past 12 months and didn't get it serviced last year for that reason, apart from that it has a full service history. It is due a service again in May and I am wondering if I should get it serviced prior to selling? Given that the Service history is now incomplete anyway would getting it serviced now be a waste of money or would the service still help to maximise the selling price?
There is also a slight issue with the power steering pump (works fine for 95% of the time but occasionally 'cuts out' for a few seconds at a time. I can get hold of a recon. pump which i am fairly sure would fix the issue but would have to pay to get it fitted and I wonder again if the outlay in carrying out the repair would be worthwhile or should I just declare the problem and take a hit on the sale value?
Appreciate any help with this.

The service history is complete... it documents all the maintenance the car has had...
No, it isn't absolutely to-the-book... But since it's WAY out of warranty, that's not so much of an issue.
The big question has to be what the service and PAS pump will add to the sale value, relative to the cost of the work, and to the ease of selling.
What sort of PAS is it? Belt-driven hydraulic, electro-hydraulic, or electric?2 -
Thanks for the reply, I believe that it is a hydraulic system driven directly off the camshaft (Saab 9-3)AdrianC said:The service history is complete... it documents all the maintenance the car has had...

How are you thinking of selling? Px don’t bother the buying dealer can do the work much cheaper than you, or will just be packing it off to auction.Same with the online buying companies.Private sale, you’re selling a dream so service new MOT you’ll sell it quickly (if you set the price right). The PAS is bit more of a moral dilemma.1

Thanks, can't see me going through the hassle of a private sale so will probably be trade-in/online buyer.MX5huggy said:How are you thinking of selling?
