Fraudulent Transaction - no idea how

in Credit cards
Hi all, just an attempt to pick your brains if possible because I am very confused!
My husband opened a Barclaycard credit card around 2 years ago as we were booking a big holiday and wanted the Section 75 protection (and due to the pandemic we were glad we did)
We only used the card for booking hotels and flights and paid it off right away. However in May last year there was fraud on the card to the value of about £1000. This was refunded, the card cancelled and a new card sent.
As the holiday was cancelled by this point, the new card was put straight in a filing cabinet in our home office. It hasn’t been out of the house nor have we put any of the details into any websites. Yesterday we got a text reminding us to pay the balance on the statement so I logged on to see a transaction of around £30 from Deliveroo from 4th March.

There is only myself and my husband who has access to the card (ordering a takeaway might be a bit beyond our toddler!) so I have no idea how they have managed to use the card. I’m hoping we will get this refunded as well - when the fraud team look at the card they will be able to see we haven’t used it for anything else so it is an unusual transaction for us but I don’t know how on earth it could have happened - I’m worried that it would seem implausible that it wasn’t us as, like I say, there is no way it could have been physically cloned or the details taken from another website. Any ideas anybody?

They'll refund it.
Fraud is not uncommon, especially when it comes to Deliveroo. It seems that most criminals are unable to cook for themselves and prefer home delivery.
However, do check statements on all your cards, whether you're using them or not. Even if there are no transactions, there can be other important notices.1 -
No idea how but if you search the forums there have been a number of recent lists about deliveroo transactions showing up on unused cards so you are not the only one.1

See this comment in another Deliveroo fraud thread yesterday: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/78223814/#Comment_782238141

Ah thank you everyone - I’m sorry, I should have checked before I posted, I was just so confused that I didn’t think it would be a common thing!
Will definitely keep an eye more often from now on too!1
