Halfords dashcam - cancelled install, refund?

Hello everyone
Had a dashcam install today and to cut a long story short, they should never have started it and clearly did not know the vehicle (newish mini), got back half way through install to a wire tie wrapped over the boot lid and passing over the top of the rubber seal - ouchy
Installer said all he can do is stop and restore the car to uninstalled status, which they did, rather surprised when going back into store for the refund that they would not refund the (cancelled) installation, the one that they are clearly unable to complete?
Any legal basis here for a Visa chargeback, small claims?, any routes that anyone can recommend?
The £ 55 is not the end of the world, but hey its annoying, and who else are they refusing to refund?
Any thoughts welcome .....

So was it the case that they couldn't install so it worked or they couldn't install with he aesthetics to your satisfaction ?
The former deserves a full refund, the latter very much more subjective (and given it's Halfords the subjectivity is more likely to land on their side than yours I suspect)2 -
Pretty much sums it up, mind you they had what chance to ring me and discuss, the final result was nothing like what had been discussed and agreedI also feel that over time, shutting the cable in the boot seal would damage one or the other, or both

Actually starting to think that is not a viable install?? Never seen a car from the factory installed like that?
Interesting to see how they reply
Thanks for the information

I cant believe they don't know how to install the dashcam, there are loads of Youtube videos showing how to do it.
I presume it's the rear camera that's an issue as you mention the boot seal. They cant charge you for fitting it when they haven't. Demand your money back and fit it yourself, its fairly easy.
Here's a Youtube video for the rear dashcam feeding it through the hatch loom.
