IT Contractor and Business Interruption Claim

I am a sole LTD company IT Contractor. My company insurance is with Hiscox. I lost business between April and October due to the pandemic. Because of the nature of my work, I do not require business premises. Has anyone in a similar situation made a claim with the Business Insurance for loss of earnings? (I was one of the excluded as my company was set up in July 2019). Can I make a Business Interruption claim?
Thank you.

Any criteria for a business interruption claim ?
If there is do you fit the criteria.
  • I can't see this succeeding to be honest.

Freelance work drying up isn't really "business interruption", it's just part and parcel of freelancing.

Being #excluded on the other hand is terrible Govt policy and you have my sympathy

Did your Hiscox policy include Business Interruption cover?

Hiscox have really been resisting paying businesses affected by the pandemic, even when their insurance covered it. As reported by the BBC here.

Business interruption insurance normally covers events related to premises following a disaster, totally unrelated to being unable to perform work at a third party premises. Hiscox made the error of neither being clear about the potential impact of pandemics (who would) nor charged for such cover in their premium rates.
