CAN I KEEP A MISTAKEN REFUND?

Hello.
I have returned an item but have been refunded for a more expensive item by the company.
Can I keep the money even though I don't think I should?
Thanks

No - in the same way that if you accidentally sent too much to somebody, you'd be entitled to it back.
  • Look at your moral compass and you'll find your answer.

PS - the company has six years in which to chase/ legally pursue you for a return of the overpayment.

Google "dishonestly retaining a wrongful credit".
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride

So by your logic if the company had charged you more than was quoted they can keep the difference. I do so wonder about todays' society where have the morals and good grace gone.

Do you honestly have to ask?
    :D

"I returned my moral compass, Amazon refunded me for a top of the line Sat Nav, so it's all good!" :)
  • Why not contact the company and make them aware of their error and ask them how they would like to proceed. Depending on the amount they may just thank you for your honesty and allow you to keep the difference, when I worked in retail it cost us to manually bill a customer so if it was a low amount we would write it off. If it is a high amount the retailer may wish to bill you the overpayment.

    No, don’t be daft.

If you paid twice by mistake would you be asking if the shop could keep it?

Has to be a troll, nobody with the least amount of moral fibre would ask such a question.

@IvanOpinion I don't know, to quote Sean of Cinematic Excrement (one of my favourite movie reviewers on YouTube), "we are living in the dumbest timeline".
